A.M. Routine: Drink Your Citrus

Image

What I’m celebrating today: Happy just about February! This amount of happiness knowing January is about over is pretty much making my heart smile. Spring is that much closer. Ahh…and it’s Friday. Loveliness.

Lately, as you know, I’ve been a bit down and out. Winter has been especially horrid this year for me, but I can’t say I haven’t been a little more pro-active about it. (Although I might have indulged in serious heart-wrentching country music from the 90s lately- that shit isn’t for the faint of heart.) Why is that when we’re down we usually want to jam to songs that are just as sad? Allison Krauss, I’m looking at you. You know, I actually need an answer for that one.

Anyhow, I used to run pretty avidly, however the past few years have definitely seen a big decline. So, in November before all the NYR’s started rolling out at the gym, I decided to start trekking back to where I used to be. Goal: Run past 15 mins. without looking like a zombie afterwards. Last week I finally(yyy) felt wonderful and happy about having to run. Pro-active score: one check for Laura. Continue reading “A.M. Routine: Drink Your Citrus”

Skin Trip: A Simple Mask for Silky, Smooth, Skin.

Hello my loves.

How are you?

All is well, I hope.

Image

Today’s Skin Trip is probably the quickest fix I’ve ever found to show major results in  less than ten minutes. I’m always looking for products that are tried, and true. Yet, the latter part is always the hardest to prove itself to me. We live in a world where the idea of ‘instant’ is not always an option, it’s expected. I don’t think that is where we need to be in everything we do as a society, however, with skincare, I cheat on that statement at least five times a day.

As the days have been oh-so-lovely, but oh-so-windy and cold, I have found my skin way off balance. And then, there is always light. Want to know my secret mask that battles all things winter?

Whipped Shea Butter. It glides over your skin in moments and the longer you leave it on, the more you will see a major change in the glow of your skin. I call it a mask because you can wash it off while still getting the benefits, or if you like, leave it on so your skin can soak it up. The breakouts, oiliness, dryness, flakiness, dullness of winter- all gone. Mostly because this hydration helps balance our skin out as it changes from the sunny days of summer to the chilly days of winter. So, not to worry about all those upcoming festivities for the season, you’ll be dashing my beautifuls!

It’s such a simple and inexpensive way to have really amazing results, so quickly, from an all-natural fix. Not from gross, synthetic, goos we see pop up all over the place this time of year. Oh it’s also good to know, while you’re applying around your face, not forget your lips so they stay super-hydrated, too! It’s my skin’s heaven for winter. Especially the next day after I did a mask the night before, when my tinted moisturizer isn’t flaking off because my skin is super dry. Cute right? Ha.

Ohhh…and my dears…

One more Skin Trip: Did you know that if you apply it around 10 pm your body will go into healing mode  for the day, and it is then that products will be most beneficial? Pretty cool, huh? 🙂

Something to Always Remember Loves.

Something To Always Remember Lovelies.

I knew there was a reason my favorite designer is Rebecca Taylor. She always has such inspiring content wherever she is.

Monday Morning Madness: Birthday-Filled Weekends; Children’s Books, Cocoa Butter, and Cardigans.

Morning Loves. Hope your weekend was a dear.

This is a spastic post. Mainly because I was all over the place this weekend, and well, pretty much altogether.

For starters, my Monday morning was an early one. I’ve been up since seven and it wasn’t the most relaxing morning, or weekend for that matter. For sure.

The weekend was met with exactly three birthdays, and looking back, it almost seems I haven’t been anywhere but a car for the better part of all of them. So to the parent’s house I went, partly because one of the birthday’s included my Father’s 72nd birthday, which still seems crazy to me! I can never quite grasp he was born in 1940, but his history has made a big impact of my own life, and so for that I will forever be grateful.

However, to add to the madness, there were a lot of question marks as to what random ideas I would pull together for a gift, but, there is one thing my father does adore. Food (as any man, of course). So I found some knicks and knacks of sorts which perhaps might help you if you’re in a crunch during a loved one’s birthday, as I was;

1. Sarabeth’s Strawberry-Rhubard Jam; Which may I say I had this a.m. and it was delicious/highly recommended.

2. This fancy Grapeseed Oil for high-heat cooking, plus the company itself seems pretty awesome.

3. Oh, so salty, Capers for Fall-inspired recipes.

4. Garlic-Basil Oil for bread dipping/quick appetizers.

5. A large ice-cube tray for cocktails- it’s great because the ice melts slowly so your drinks don’t become too watery!

5. And, an awesome versatile (stove top, oven, microwave!), Italian Terracotta, cooking pan. Which also helps because it’s Green. 🙂

After the present was already given, of course, I realized a good coffee would have been another great addition. Then again, there is still Christmas’s steady approach. However, all in all, it was kind of a perfect assortment because both my Mom and Dad could use it, which made me feel like I didn’t leave her out. So that was nice. Anyhow(www)…

Even in the hectic last-minute birthday cake runs, present searching, and deciding on an either funny or serious card (another dreaded decision!), laughter filled a lot of the craziness in. Which isn’t too hard because I have one of the funniest people in the world around a lot of the time, my boyfriend (aww, haha.), but, this book made for a pretty good competition. Have you ever heard of SkippyJon Jones? My niece’s fourth birthday was this weekend and I looked high and low for a good children’s book and came across this absolute jewel. We read it on the way to their house and…hysterical. Seriously, I haven’t laughed at a children’s book since I was a child myself, and for any parents out there/crazies like me whom love funny randoms…this book is too cute and hilarious!

He kind of reminds me of Ciel, my precious pup. Whom Liddy (my niece) is obsessed with. She was her baby for the day, below. Too precious (haha!).

 Happy (now belated-ish) Birthday!

Another high, the weather. It was a chilly cool which called for two essentials; 1. Jason’s Cocoa Butter (heart, heart, heart!) because my skin seems to be switching to dehydration mode (<—post I’ll touch on very soon!), 2. and a little more layering. I wore a light beige J.Crew chunky cardigan I bought last year and practically lived in it yesterday. It was pretty much amazing. Aside from my makeup-less face and non-strategical ‘messy hair’ look, but whatever.

On that note, this rainy morning is definitely calling for a latte. Au revoir, my beautifuls. xoxo.

Why We Love; Cosmetics That Love Us Back.

Watching this ah-mazzzz-ing video clip (watch, watch, watch!) From Alicia Silverstone’s blog, The Kind Life, pretty much sums up a lot- especially my earlier post, below. Big-name cosmetic companies are getting away with, well, beauty…leaving behind only a pair of (most-likely designer) leather gloves. No fingerprints, no apologies, just cancer-causing chemicals from shampoo to lipstick.

This new line, on the other hand, loves us back:

Alicia Silverstone’s new line from Juice Beauty. It’s quite enchanting to say the least.

And, if you’re a 90’s child, as I am, do you remember how fabulous Alicia’s lip-colour was in ‘Clueless’, and pretty much always? I think I have secretly been searching for that (gorgeous) specific color for quite a while now. Well, that mystery perfect color is now available for everyone. Alicia, herself, has been working with Juice Beauty and created a divine line for eco-and-natural-conscious ladies everywhere. It has finally hit stores, and it’s pretty much, mystery solved. That dewy-pink (love, love, love) that seems ever-lasting on her lips is now in a whimsical, rose-hued tube. So, with a quick sweep, it was mine, all(lll) mine.

Down to the packaging, it’s completely eco-conscious, made with organic ingredients, and wonderful for your lips. 100% a lip-colour to be swooning over. It’s the perfect shade of that usually hard-to-find ‘natural pink’, and(ddd) just in time for the upcoming Fall and Winter seasons because it’s super-hydrating. Love. Thanks, Alicia.

xoxo.
