In My Cup: Simple Inspirations From Friends.

Even though all I can dream about lately is my favorite season, Fall, I decided I might as well embrace summer here and there before it’s gone. To be completely honest my week has been little sparks of wonderful, and other moments have been a drab. Lots of pondering on where in the hell I’ll be living in exactly one month from now, and trying to find a new job that won’t make me completely miserable, and also balancing heavier thoughts of the universe (i.e. oh, you know, just the meaning of life and all.) On the other hand, I have definitely had my fair share of catching up with friends lately whom I haven’t spoken to in a while, which is always a welcomed change.  For instance, one of my closest friends lives in Asheville, NC and just got a new ‘big-girl’ awesome job where her job title includes camping eight straight days every 2 weeks. How amazing is that? Of course we talked about it for about an hour like two crazed 20somethings having a rare ‘hey, things are going to be okay’ moment. Ah, to have a job hanging out in nature? Lovely. She is a newly-licensed Recreational Therapist, so to score a job within a huge Wellness center is definitely nothing short of amazing.  She will be helping people with substance abuse problems- what a wonderful way to be around people and nature everyday and to give back in a way. It made me rethink a lot of where I’m heading, and where I want to go. Good vibes. Anyhow, hope you loves are having a wonderful Thursday! xoxo. Here’s a few things that have made my life a bit more whimsical as of late, the first being Jessica (whom I talked about in this post) and me in the ridiculous boa, naturally:

Take Control of Your Culture, With Love.

Image Well, for starters, I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Mine was mostly here and there, although I did have one too many extra dirty martinis on Saturday night, which ended up with me consumed and doomed to my bed most of Sunday. Eh, on the other hand I watched a lot of good movies (i.e…Despicable Me is my pick for the most hilarious movie. EVER.) Maybe you agree? I might have laughed a little too hard to be twenty three years old, but whatever.

Anyhow, on to other exciting news as of late. So, a couple of us 20somethings decided to start up a website devoted to our generation- or as I like to call it ‘gen’ Y’. There, you will find an array of hilarious, real life, accounted for stories (from fashion and love- to lifestyle and politics) about the wanders of being in your 20s, and all the in-between. So, of course I would love the support of you dears, and would love to share my, and the other amazing writers, works with you over at 20some! It’s a pretty sweet site and entangled in truly allowing us a space that we can go to and share our thoughts on the world. We don’t want to be just a bunch of writers stating our opinion about our generation- we want it to be a space where we all (i.e. you) just hang out, chat, and speak our mind. So come hang out with us, share us, chat with us, and get involved! Also, we are always looking for people in our generation that would like a chance to contribute to the site (artists, writers, singers, songwriters, sports enthusiasts, designers, dreamers, lovers, etc.), so feel free to email me at the address below if you would like to submit something, I’ll pass it over to our content director!

Feel free to leave me a comment on here if you have any questions as well! xoxo. Image

Monday Morning Madness; “Crazy? Oh girl, that’s all of us interesting people. The rest are bores.”

 Bonjour, My Lovers.

Sometimes, you just need a change, anything will do. To get up and go somewhere just for a different view. Something new and bright. Places can become stale to me if it’s the same for too long. Do you ever think that? Sometimes I think I’m the only one with an addiction to change, I absolutely love it. Anyhow, that’s pretty much how I feel today, a mini-trip to the mountains, a quaint little town to walk through with fun shops (Asheville, Asheville, Asheville!, see below), perhaps even a Zoo visit (I can be a child for a second) would do to fill that void. Just something. To my lovely surprise, mother nature on the other hand, has finally decided to turn on the stepping stones to Fall. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And, I guess after I walked outside to come across such a milestone, my complaining has to take the somewhat back seat for now. The trees were breezy and the sun was just there for that brilliant, Fall-tinted, illuminating light, which seems so perfect when mixed with the coolness. It reminds me of my absolute favorite Sex and The City episode, where Carrie has to bring out a blanket because the crisp air is starting to make its’ way into the city, and Big is about to break the news he’s moving California, and inevitably going to break her heart. Reminds me that, every and any change, when simmered down- is somewhat bittersweet.

The other half of my morning was spent catching up with one of my best friend’s since we were in kindergarden. Is it too much to say that I’m pretty prideful in that statement? That’s a pretty long time to still have a friendship, we’re 23 now! It’s funny to see how she is, and where she is, in her life. We’ve both changed so much, which is beautiful really. Friendships that last that long have such a mirror-aspect to them- you see where you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to be through a person who has pretty much seen the best, and worst of you. She lives in lovely Asheville, North Carolina (one of my favorite places, ever!) at the moment, and on a lighter note, she gets the absolutely best view of Fall. Below I posted a few pictures of the drive up to her place and Asheville itself. The Blue Ridge Parkway is pretty much one of the prettiest places ever this time of year.

Obviously, the title of this post was a quote in our conversation. So true, don’t you agree?

It’s a pretty sweet place. It’s funky and fun, and really works around the idea of ‘local’…it’s not just a buzz-word there. Cough, cough, most of America. Plus they have one of my absolute favorites lines, Evan Healy, which I can never find anywhere but there! I used to use her French Rose Clay Mask, but now that I’m in Charlotte, it’s either head to NYC or Asheville to fetch it! Check out her site! She has wonderful advice, and a reason why I have gotten so into holistic skincare. Definitely an absolute jewel in the beauty industry!
